RxBox showcased in nationwide science and technology exhibition

MANILA— The National Telehealth Center (NTHC) joined the science and technology (S&T) community in celebrating the 2015 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW), with RxBox as its featured technology.

This year’s theme “Philippines: A Science Nation Innovating for Global Competitiveness” focused on innovation technologies from various S&T sectors, including quality healthcare. Through the event, NTHC engaged Department of Science and Technology (DOST) regional offices to implement RxBox within their respective regions.

RxBox, a project of the UP Manila-NTHC, DOST, and UP Diliman, is a portable telemedicine device that advances health service delivery to remote communities all over the Philippines. It can monitor a patient’s heart rate, blood, pulse rate, and blood oxygenation.

Aside from exhibits in healthcare, NSTW 2015 also showcased innovation technologies on agriculture, enterprise development, industry competitiveness, IT-Business Process Management (IT-BPM), e-Government, education, and disaster preparedness.

The 5-day event, hosted by DOST, lasted from July 24 to 28 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
