First OpenMRS Training Course Conducted

The National Telehealth Center has just conducted its first Level 1 OpenMRS Training Course last December 10, 2009 at the NThC Conference Room. OpenMRS or otherwise known as, Open Medical Record System, is a free and an open source electronic medical record system that has been developed through an international community collaboration. Level 1 OpenMRS Training Course is an introductory course targeted to practically anyone who wants to gain basic knowledge and would like to implement a medical records system in their respective healthcare facilities. Topics that were covered during the one-day training were general overview of an electronic health records, OpenMRS history, the Concept Dictionary, installation of an OpenMRS Appliance, OpenMRS Module installation and basic maintenance, creating a basic OpenMRS Form and report and how to join the local and international OpenMRS Community.
