NThC participates in the 29th Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) Meeting

 

nder the leadership of the Department of Surgery Chair Dr. Serafin C. Hilvano, and with the assistance of the Information Management Service Office of UP Manila, the National Telehealth Center participated in the 29th Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) Meeting as part of their telemedicine intiatives last February 11, 2010. The event was held at the ground floor of the University Library, University of the Philippines Manila.

APAN is a non-profit international consortium established on the 3rd of June 1997 designed to be a high-performance network for research and development on advanced next generation applications and services. APAN provides an advanced networking environment for the research and education community in the Asia-Pacific region, and promotes global collaboration. Topics discussed during the Medical Working Group session were recent developments in Thoracoscopic surgery. Other member countries present during this activity were Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam and, the host country, Australia. The next scheduled APAN meeting will be in August this year.
