DOST showcases RxBox, CHITS to mall goers, health workers in Region VIII

RxBox Regional Training Coordinator Pamela Poleno presented the RxBox1000 Project before members of the Eastern Visayas Association of Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Inc. and provincial and municipal health officers from Eastern Visayas.

 

Several mall goers had their vital signs taken using the RxBox biomedical device during Region VIII’s celebration of the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) at a mall in Tacloban City on July 25 to 29, 2016.  RxBox Regional Training Coordinator Pamela Poleno and Project Assistant Lovelene Maceda gave demonstrations on the components of the RxBox and the electronic medical record Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS) as part of the NSTW celebration.

At noontime of July 25, a press conference was held for the radio and television stations in the region. DOST Region VIII Director Edgardo Esperincilla, heads of the Provincial Science and Technology Center, and Poleno served as panelists. Poleno discussed how communities can avail of the RxBox and CHITS.

On July 28, Poleno and representatives from DOST Region VIII presented the RxBox1000 Project before more than 2,000 barangay nutrition scholars (BNS) from by Eastern Visayas Association of BNS, Inc., and provincial and municipal health officers from the region. The activity was held at the Leyte Academic Center in Palo, Leyte. Southern Leyte and Samar’s provincial health officers expressed desire to support the project.
