Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur—The City Health Office of Pagadian with its four main health centers will be the first citywide Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS) implementer in the Zamboanga Peninsula after its recently concluded training on the electronic medical record system.

The City Government of Pagadian, through the efforts of Mayor Romeo Pulmones and City Health Officer Dr. Noel Ceniza, has sought the services of the University of the Philippines Manila-National Telehealth Center in the training and deployment of CHITS to the city health districts of Sta. Lucia, San Pedro, Balingasan, and San Jose, covering 54 barangays.

A total of 22 health workers participated in the CHITS training last May 17-19, 2017 at the Executive Function Hall of the City Mayor’s Office in this city. The participants included physicians, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, IT professionals, and a sanitary inspector from their health office. They were trained on the importance of good quality data as well as the emphasis on the practice of ethics in eHealth. Basic CHITS modules such as general consults, maternal care program, lying-in, social hygiene, and family planning as well as the other features of CHITS which included PhilHealth reports were taught in the three-day training.

With their efforts in acquiring information technology resources in health, the Pagadian City Health Office envisions to lead the way in eHealth in the region.
