The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recognizes UPM-NThC as a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) provider for registered nurses.
Manila, Philippines — The University of the Philippines Manila – National Telehealth Center (UPM-NThC) is now an accredited Continuing Professional Education (CPE) provider by the Council of Nursing of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
As the Philippines’ premier center in the field of health informatics, the UPM-NThC has been offering a series of seminars on Health Informatics, and capability-building programs on the use of electronic medical records for health professionals such as the Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS) for health centers, and Open Source Medical Record System (OpenMRS) for clinics and hospitals.
The strongest impetus for UPM-NThC to apply as CPE provider came from health professionals to have UPM-NThC’s programs and activities offered to be recognized by the PRC.
With UPM-NThC as CPE provider, nursing practitioners and faculty members of nursing informatics can take part in the knowledge sharing on the interplay of Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) and health care.
