The UP Manila – National Telehealth Center installed the Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS) at the Gawad Kalinga Clinic in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City. The Physician Coordinator of the GK Clinic, Dr. Papic Oliveros, sought the support of GK Benefactors from the United States to fund the implementation of an electronic medical record for the clinic. This clinic has an estimated population of 70,000 in its catchment area and caters both GK and non-GK households in the vicinity. The pilot aims to serve as a model for other GK Clinics to follow suit in enhancing their health information system.
The installation and orientation was done last February 4, 2010 by the UPM-NThC team composed of Dr. Alex Gavino, Engr. Randy Fernandez, and Telehealth Nurse Isidor Cardenas.
