The RxBox booth in Nueva Vizcaya welcomed guests who tried RxBox’s blood pressure component.

The RxBox biomedical device was one of the innovations presented to the public in Region II’s celebration of the National Science and Technology Week 2016 at the Nueva Vizcaya State University in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Spearheaded by Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region II Director Sancho Mabborang, DOST-assisted technologies and local products were displayed, and activities such as science competitions, film showing, and forums on food safety and agriculture were held on the last week of July this year.

In their speeches, Nueva Vizcaya Governor Carlos Padilla and Bayombong Mayor Ralph Lantion said that DOST’s contributions to disaster preparedness, agriculture, and entrepreneurship uplift the quality of life both in the province and in the region. Director Mabborang, meanwhile, offered assistance to local communities that have small and medium enterprises in food processing and agriculture.

DOST Regional Coordinator Clyde Beth Caraang and RxBox Regional Training Coordinator Kerby Gacias introduced the RxBox device to those who attended the NSTW 2016 activities. According to Gacias, the guests appreciated how the device helps deliver quality health service to rural areas through its six sensors-in-one as this provides better diagnosis and monitoring of cardiovascular, maternal, and fetal health. He likewise observed a high demand for blood pressure monitoring using the RxBox among those who came to the event. (With report from Kerby Gacias, RN, MSN)
